Fees and Charges
PD for Life offers in person and online book clubs focused on self improvement and personal development topics in return for a monthly service fee from participants.
The monthly fee is $20 for attendance at each session of our online book clubs and $30 for attendance at each session of our in person book clubs. The difference in price covers the cost of venue hire and refreshments provided to participants as part of the in person book club sessions.
Discounts and Concessions
PD for Life does not offer a concession price for participants, but provides the option of attendance via online book clubs at a reduced price, with community support and engagement offered through our Facebook Group.
In addition, a "12 for 10" offer stands for participants who wish to pay for a full year's subscription in advance. This means that participants pay for ten (10) months upfront as a lump sum of $200 (online) or $300 (in person) for attendance at one monthly session of the PD for Life Book Clubs for a period of twelve (12) months from the first attendance date.
Booking confirmation
Participants' attendance at either an in person or online book club session is not confirmed unless they have booked through this website. Fees are to be paid in advance at the time of booking for online sessions, and preferably at booking for in person sessions, however in person sessions can be paid for using correct cash upon arrival at the venue. Please contact the organiser to arrange cash payments as we will need to manually register your attendance through the website without payment for the session in advance.
Multiple enrolments
If participants wish to attend more than one book club per month, they are welcome to do so and fees apply as specified for each session or scheduled block thereof.
Where possible, each book club will study a different resource each month so that participants who pay to attend more than one session per month will have a variety of learning and discussion opportunities.
Quorum and Cancellation of scheduled book club sessions
To develop and maintain the supportive and effective group dynamic for which we strive, PD for Life has a quorum requirement of at least eight (8) registered participants per scheduled block of in person or online book club sessions. PD for Life reserves the right to cancel a scheduled block of book club sessions if registered participant numbers have not reached this quorum at least 48hrs before the scheduled session start time as advertised on this web page. PD for Life will attempt to provide at least 24hrs written notification to the enrolled participants' nominated email address should a scheduled block of sessions need to be cancelled by us due to not reaching enrolment quorum.
Where possible, we will attempt to transfer registrations to another block of sessions, but if there is no other suitable block scheduled, registered participants will be offered a full refund of any monies paid.
PD for Life makes every effort to ensure that scheduled sessions of the in person and online book clubs will go ahead as planned. However, from time to time, unforeseen circumstances occur and sessions may need to be cancelled. PD for Life will attempt to provide at least 24hrs written notification to the enrolled participants' nominated email address should a scheduled session need to be cancelled by us. Where possible, make up sessions will be provided no more than fourteen (14) days after the scheduled session was cancelled. If it is not possible to offer a make up session within that time, participants enrolled in the single session of the book club will be offered a full refund. Participants who hold an annual membership will have that extended by one month at no additional charge.
Refunds and Non-Attendance
Refunds are not provided simply because participants have changed their mind about wanting to join a book club. PD for Life offers single session enrolments so potential participants can effectively "try before committing".
Online Book Clubs
Where a participant has paid in advance for a single session at one or more of the online book clubs but does not attend, refunds will be considered on the following basis:
Where a participant has paid in advance for a single session at one or more of the online book clubs but can no longer attend, the registration may be transferred to a new participant provided that the session organiser is advised in writing more than or up to 24hrs in advance, so that log in details can be sent to the new participant. In this scenario, PD for Life will not issue a refund for fees paid, that is up to the original participant registered to arrange with the nominated replacement participant.
"In writing" means the notification of participant non-attendance via email or text format to the registered PD for Life contact details on this website. Notifications will not be confirmed as received except by the receipt details registered on the incoming email and/or SMS servers used by PD for Life. Confirmation of receipt of the notification to the participant will be at the discretion of the session organiser, but refunds (where applicable) will be processed within 48hrs of the end time of the missed session.
Where a participant has paid in advance for an annual membership at one or more of the online book clubs:
Non-attendance at a session of the online book club for annual membership holders will not constitute a refund of fees paid, however extension of the membership by the number of missed sessions will be considered on the following basis:

Participation in book club sessions
While we encourage all participants to offer their insights and learning from the book of the month, we understand that not everyone is ready to speak in front of a group. Our in person and online book club formats aim to provide a safe and structured environment for everyone to share as much or as little as they like from month to month.
In order to facilitate the creation of a safe space for sharing, book club sessions begin with the discussion of the condition that nothing discussed at book club sessions leaves the in person or online gathering. Everyone present is expected to agree to this condition via a show of hands and verbal confirmation.
In addition to this agreement of confidentiality within the group, unlawful behaviour such as (but not limited to) bullying, harassment, hate speech, or discrimination against others on any basis will not be tolerated at any time.
Observation or reports of such behaviour against any individuals will result in termination of attendance at the book club and expulsion from the Facebook Community, as well as denial of access to the Members' Resources Library where applicable, without financial recourse.
Advance notification of reading list
The books selected for each PD for Life Book Club are at the discretion of the session organiser. Resource suggestions may be solicited from session participants, either during a book club session or via the PD for Life website. While the topics covered are on a regular rotation, because the book chosen for a particular club in a a particular month varies based on a number of factors, advance notification of the reading list for each month is not available at this time.
Accessing the membership resources library
PD for Life endeavours to ensure that access to the curated members' resources library is available on demand, but PD for Life cannot be held liable for denial of access issues due to external factors such as malicious attacks on the website, hosting interruptions from our ISP or scheduled downtime for website maintenance.
Accessing the PD for Life Facebook Community
We provide an online community meeting place for people interested in self improvement and personal development to meet and mingle. However, Facebook is an external platform managed by Meta and, as such, we are also subject to the Conditions of Use proscribed by that company. We encourage all of our Facebook Community members to read the Facebook Terms of Use before joining the platform.
Access to our online community is governed by individual behavioural standards. These are outlined when you apply to join the group. If participants do not adhere to the group rules, they will be sanctioned.
